Aimee and Achylla, May 2018
Did someone say DIY wedding?
I LOVE a Do-It-Yourself wedding. I love the rusticness and the relaxed vibes and the personal touches. Aimee and Achylla had their wedding in their beautiful woodland garden in the Cambridgeshire countryside and what a day it was. The weather couldn’t have been any more perfect for an outside wedding celebration.
Now, don’t be fooled into thinking that creating a calm and peaceful wedding atmosphere in your back garden is an easy feat. These girls had a long list of jobs to do, but surrounded by enthusiastic friends and family pitching in from as early as 7am on the morning of the wedding with smiles on their faces, they created a venue to be proud of. (Aimee admitted that Achylla was definitely the brains behind the wedding organisation and spreadsheets; Aimee just did as she was told!) Amazingly, when the beautiful venue was complete, this down-to-earth pair probably took about 45 minutes to get ceremony ready… between them!
The make-shift hay bale aisle and the beautifully decorated archway (handmade flowers by Achylla) looked stunning in the May sunshine. Their talented musician friend played them down the aisle on their guitar, their bridesmaids had mismatched lavender colour dresses and even their dog Murphy joined the ceremony.
Hiding in the corners of the garden were games for everyone to enjoy: bowling, dominoes, horse shoe toss and a sand pit for the little ones.
The Brides requested that we take a few photos of them on their favourite dog walk amongst the fields and greenery behind their house. The backdrop was perfect and suited them and their outdoor lifestyles down to a T. And of course, their beloved Murphy got involved again – never one to miss out on a photo op!
With all the careful months of planning, Aimee & Achylla were able to completely relax after the ceremony and let the day unwind around them while their friends cooked up an epic BBQ. These two certainly surpassed themselves with the effort they put in to make the day perfect in their own personal way and they definitely proved that it doesn’t have to cost the earth to plan an amazing and unforgettable wedding day.
