Kay & Rey contacted me for a bump to baby booking at the end of 2019 and I’m bloomin’ glad they did! When I met them on a foggy November morning in Ampthill woods, they were SO warm and friendly from the get-go and I could instantly see their natural chemistry – their positive vibes were contagious! I have to admit, my favourite shoots are when couples just bounce off each other and are completely at ease in each other’s company – it certainly makes my job as a photographer very easy! And you’d never know Kay was 36 weeks pregnant; “glowing” is an understatement!
They were the most laid back pregnant couple I’ve probably ever met… 36 weeks pregnant and after the shoot they were off to Mothercare to buy a cot! We joked throughout that Kay would probably still be smiling throughout labour and the baby would just float out…
…And true to form, laid back Kay & Rey nearly didn’t make it to hospital before baby Tasheni made her grand entrance to the world a week early! I met Tasheni when she was 3 weeks old, although you’d never know there was a newborn in the house – the relaxed atmosphere from the maternity shoot was continued.
Tasheni was a dream baby; she slept, she posed, she fed, she slept… and posed again! As a newborn photographer I understand that it’s not always as seamless as this session was – that’s why I allow longer for newborn photography; time to change them, feed them, feed them… feed them again! 3 weeks old is my favourite age for newborn shoots. Of course I love the sleepy day-old stage too, but I find babies start finding their personalities and quirks at 2 or 3 weeks old and their features are developing so quickly already. And baby Tasheni was even lifting her head up too! So thanks again to Kay & Rey for having me, I had the best time at both shoots. Here are some of my favourites from the newborn session 🙂
